"THE BARRACKS"

“I think people that are consumed by ego is because they don’t have self love. Narcissism and egocentrism are born out of that; the fact that they don’t feel listened, they don’t feel valued, they don’t feel appreciated... In response, they amplify their ego, which was already present, pushing it further until they become an egocentric and a narcissist. But deep down, what truly drives this behaviour is the fear of not being accepted.”
Some months ago Santi told me about this abandoned building that used to be an old barracks of La Guardia Civil. So I had my 35 millimeter film Canon AE1-Program and an Ilford black-and-white roll with me. I thought everything was going to run smoothly but guess what? A squeaky faulty shutter had to occur at the best moment. Fate had other plans.
I didn’t realize it until I got my film developed. There I was, sitting in front of my laptop, stunned, staring at unexpected light leaks. But here’s the twist: those leaks somehow landed in just the right places. Hence, I was able to experiment and manipulate the colors. I call it "A Beautyful Accident". Accidents like this make you defy how you are going to maneuver out of it.
Accidents like this prove if you have the potential to adapt and push those creative boundaries that you set up by yourself. I’m actually even happy that the camera broke, the result speaks for itself. And to me, that’s all that matters.
